* acreditar / aceitar

Notice how she’s using the present and the past tense in the sentance: I can’t believe that I accepted your invitation, Marcelo > Eu não acredito que (eu) aceitei seu convite, Marcelo.

The verbs acreditar & aceitar are sound so similar that it’s easy to mix them up! I oftem hear beginners using creer rather than acreditar — ususally because they know some Spanish. But, acreditar is realy to much more common verb so: use it.

ACEITAR is really tricky to pronouce

– especially when you are starting out.

Let’s practice the presnt tense:

>eu aceito
>você, ele, ela aceita
>nós aceitamos
>vocês, ele, elas aceitam

In the preterit tense it becomes:

>eu aceitei
>você, ele, ela aceitou
>nós aceitámos *NOTE the accent!
>vocês, ele, elas aceitaram

The main thing to get in this is the “Eu não acredito que aceitei seu convite” part — practice saying it out-loud. Substitute the second half of the sentance with things you can think of like: …que você pensa assim >> …que você falou isso >> … que eu fiz isso.
