A ficha caiu!
Once upon a time, the orelhão - public phones, required a token or, ficha. After placing the token in the coin slot it would cair once the party picked-up.
The expression literally means 'the token dropped' but has the common meaning of 'it dawned on me' , 'it clicked' or 'I got it'.
The order can be either 'a ficha caiu' or, 'caiu a ficha' - depending on the usage.
> Ah! Agora a ficha caiu!
> Ela falou para mim ontem, mas não caiu a ficha!
> Quando a ficha cair, ela vai entender tudo.
It's also used in the sense of 'taking a hint':
> Eu sempre digo que estou ocupada quando ele me convida para sair, mas mesmo assim não caiu a ficha que eu não quero sair com ele!
